On November 7, 2009, Emmy Award Winning Actor, GregAlan Williams will perform his one-man show The Life and Times of Deacon A.L. Wiley at City High Opstad Auditorium. The show will begin at 6:30pm and a reception will immediately follow.  The purpose is not only to raise money for the renovation and expansion of the 140 year old Bethel A.M.E. church facility, but to increase fellowship across religious faiths in Iowa City and neighboring communities.

Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is an important state and federal historical landmark in Iowa City.  This is our first major expansion since the church was built in 1868.  Plans for renovation and new addition have been approved by Iowa City Historical Commission and the City planning and development authorities.  The new facility will include a sanctuary that will seat approximately 150 people, a large fellowship hall, a serving kitchen and meeting space.
