Syed Ahman – Flowing Rivers of Glass

“The Kedah River in Malaysia started my early fascination with water.  Born and raised by it, I played in it, saw its moods and movements and the effects it leaves behind.  When I started to work with glass…[it was] by no coincidence because glass shares similar light bending properties with water.”

Syed Ahman, improvisational artist, allows the dichroic glass he works with to impose as much will as he, the artist, does.  Accidents and planned surprises are part of the process.  The creative work is laid out at room temperature, followed by a kiln firing at 1400 degrees Fahrenheit, where the glass begins to flow and fuse, blending shapes and colors.

Don’t miss this amazing new work, inspired by the landscape and rivers of his homeland in Malaysia.
