Fitness class for people over 50!
Boomers and Barbells was developed specifically for the 50-62 age group - the Boomers! The class consists of a 5 minute warm-up using stretching exercises, Tai Chi, and yoga. An exercise component of 40-45 minutes consists of exercises done with light weights and weighted medicine balls. Each session ends with a 5 minute cool-down period.
Strength training is a part of a complete functional fitness program for adults. The program goals include strength improvement, reduction of risk for falls, and improvement of functional ability to aid in maintaining an independent lifestyle. Participants' functional fitness will be assessed before starting the program and on the last day of the program to gauge improvement. Class is open to the public over 50 years of age.
Class runs Tuesdays and Thursdays Oct 20 - Dec 3 from 3:30-4:30 PM at the Senior Center. Instructed by Ken Mobily. Class fee is $36 for Senior Center members or $72/non-members; pay instructor at first session
